No bake bliss balls on a wooden board. They are small and round, covered in coconut and the front one has a bite taken out of it

A fun snack to roll and eat – no oven needed!

Prep time: 10 mins
Chill time: 20 mins
Makes: 12 balls

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • ½ cup desiccated coconut
  • ¼ cup sunflower seed butter or tahini for school lunchboxes
  • 10 medjool dates or 15 regular dates
  • 2 tbsp cocoa or cacao powder
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds (optional)
  • 1–2 tbsp water (as needed)

Method:

  1. Place oats, seeds, coconut and cocoa into a food processor
  2. Blend until fine, add dates and seed butter
  3. Blend again until a smooth paste forms. If too dry add a little water at a time until right consistency. It should be a little sticky but not able to hold shape
  4. Roll into small balls and place on a plate
  5. Chill for 20 minutes or until firm

Little Chef Tip:
Kids love rolling the mixture into balls – it’s like playdough you can eat!

These date balls are also a great pre ahead recipe – just double the recipe and pop these into the freezer as a great made ahead snack

You can also substitute in other dried fruits such as a sultanas or apricots

Fun Food Fact:
